Qualifications:

Must hold valid Alabama Certification in the field of Educational Administration and Supervision from an accredited educational institution.

Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Have a vision for the educational needs of the 21st Century.

Must have a strong educational background with a minimum of three years teaching experience.

Secondary Administrative experience preferred.

Have a proven ability to be an effective leader in consensus building, staff development, supervision and evaluation, budgeting, staff organization and utilization, and technology use for instructional and management purposes.

Should possess good written and oral communication skills.

Must have positive people skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to help supervise both large and small groups.

Must be able to follow directives and help direct the focus of the total school program.

Must provide evidence of professional development activities relating to current educational trends.

Should be a proven instructional leader with successful experiences in curriculum development and assessment.

Should be able to provide proactive, team-oriented leadership characterized by integrity, intelligence, knowledge, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage and administer the development, implementation, and assessment of the instructional program.

Use current research, performance data, and feedback from students, teachers, parents, and community to make decisions related to improvement of instruction and student performance.

Implement a strong curriculum-based environment following the State Course of Study.

Promote high student achievement.

Align school initiatives with system, state, and school goals.

Direct the development of the master schedule and assign teachers according to identified needs.

Interview and select qualified personnel to be recommended for employment.

Supervise the operation and management of all activities and functions.

Develop positive school/community relations and act as liaison between the school and community.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with parents, students, teachers, and the community.

Access, analyze, interpret, and use data in the decision making process.

Conduct staff meetings as needed to discuss policy changes, instructional programs, potential problems, and resolution of existing problems, etc.

Facilitate professional development of school staff members.

Communicate, through the proper channels, to keep the Superintendent informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.

Implement school board policy, state statutes, and federal regulations.

Establish guidelines for proper student conduct and implement disciplinary procedures that ensure a safe and orderly environment.

Coordinate the supervision of all extracurricular programs.

Manage and supervise the school's athletic and student activity programs including the selection of club sponsors and coaches, approve all school-sponsored activities, etc.

Maintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus.

Attend school-related activities and events.

Provide training opportunities and feedback to personnel at the assigned school.

Maintain and model high standards of professional conduct.

Provide leadership in the school improvement process and the implementation of the school improvement plan.

Set high goals and standards for self and others.

Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000 based on degree and experience.
