Cost Accounting Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB: Manage the cost accounting function in our West Jordan, UT location, ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, and provide insightful cost analysis to support business decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain cost accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Manage the month end inventory accounting close process
• Monitor actual expenses and assist leadership in developing, recommending, and implementing corrective action to ensure results of the operations are in line with the operating budget
• Perform cost analysis and financial guidance to prepare reports that provide detailed cost information to local and corporate leadership.
• Analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, opportunities for cost reduction, and areas for improvement
• Collaborate with FP&A to develop and maintain the cost accounting model for budgets and forecasts
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including leadership teams and external auditors
• Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting
• CPA and audit experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with NetSuite and other financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a complex environment
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred
