Our Team:
Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrates from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager, Refinery to join our Operations Team in Long Harbour, NL. This is a permanent, full-time position working at the Long Harbour site, on a Monday to Friday schedule.
The Refinery Manager will oversee all aspects of the Refinery, ensuring the plant operates efficiently and safely while achieving production targets and quality standards. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, financial management and continuous improvement initiatives. The Refinery Manager works collaboratively with the senior leadership team to implement best practices in asset management, delivering on the business objectives.

This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, financial management and continuous improvement initiatives. The Refinery Manager works collaboratively with the senior leadership team to implement best practices in asset management, delivering on the business objectives.
Additional in this position, you will:
- Support and implement the HomeSafe model of risk and hazard management. Oversee day to day plant operations ensuring compliance with health and safety work practices and regulations, and environment standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of supervisor and processing plant technicians (~ 250 people), fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, empowerment, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement operational strategies alignment with the company's business objectives. Set performance goals and monitor progress, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
- Manage the plant's budget, including operating expenses and capital expenditures. Implement cost savings initiatives while maintaining high quality standards. Optimize production processes to maximize efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce cost.
- Monitor and analyze production data, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve plant operations. Implement and sustain continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to maximize overall plant value and integrity. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all plant operating areas, support departments, and suppliers.
- Provide support, direction, and leadership to the High-Performance Work System.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering is required.
- Undergraduate degree in Business would be considered an asset.
- Professional Engineering designation is considered an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in a chemical processing plant operation, with an emphasis on the hydrometallurgical process, and a proven track record of leadership and success.
- Substantial experience in overseeing financial portfolios and managing large budgets.
- Proven experience in managing critical risks and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques and continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma and Advance Process Control.

- Expertise in the applied science of hydrometallurgy.
- Superior leadership, effective communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong business and technical acumen.
- Ability to analyze complete problems, anticipate future trends, make sound decisions under certainty, effectively prioritize tasks, and communicate the vision clearly to others.
