In early 2022, we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Women's Leadership, a 30,000+ sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity, events, and collaborations - bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the world's greatest challenges.

Role Summary
The Vice President, Global Network is a newly created opportunity that will be a strategic and tactical leader focused on strengthening and redefining the Vital Voices global network. This pivotal role will build sustained and proactive means to strengthen the ties between women leaders and the Network, as well as between individual women leaders to reinforce the shared vision and values that unite everyone in the Network.
Reporting directly to the CEO of Vital Voices and closely collaborating with members of the leadership team, technology and data team, and local, national and international Network members, this hire will build and strengthen a clear governance structure, working model and connectivity opportunities to ensure collective action to take on the world's greatest challenges facing women together.
As a strategic leader of this international Network, the VP, Global Network will be accountable for driving engagement, ambassadorship and collective action at scale through face-to-face interaction, digital engagement, and the efforts of a small but mighty (and growing) team.

This position is a full-time exempt hybrid position based in Washington, DC with two days of required in person attendance at the Vital Voices Headquarters. The ideal candidate will live a commutable distance from the world headquarters in Washington D.C., though candidates residing elsewhere will be given priority based on their proximity to Vital Voices focus regions If and when it is safe to travel, domestic and international travel up to 25% may be required for the position. Relocation is not provided for this role.
The starting salary range for this position is $134,010 - $250,500 based on experience and ability to have broad impact early.

Key accountabilities
- Re-establish and re-orient the Vital Voices Global Network ("the Network") as a sustainable and impactful vehicle for achieving Vital Voices 2030 goals.
- Redefine the membership proposition and governance model, informed by new and established Network women leaders.
- Create strong, innovative, and scalable models for Global Network through integrated communications channels on our Vital Voices Community hub, local, national, and international convening schedules as well as through supporting the next phase of the digital community hub.
- Establish, build, and protect the brand of the Network towards it being an influential and catalytic voice in the sustainable development landscape, working hand in hand with the Chief External Affairs Officer.
- Partner with VP, Tech & Data to identify impact stories that aligns with Vital Voices' Mission, drive chapter engagement across our digital platforms by providing network insights to build new features and capabilities boost engagement on the community hub.
- Secure the funding for the Network and its activities required to support its activities, working hand in hand with the Chief Development Officer.
- Build and lead secretariat team for the Network, to enable good governance and to drive impact.
- Establish and lead a collaborative staffing model across all Vital Voices functional and matrix teams.
- Build and nurture the value proposition and engagement offering of the Network, working closely with the VP, Marketing and VP, Technology and Impact, to drive Network member acquisition and retention.
- Support the Head of Global Advocacy in establishing and implementing a model for collective action, namely: advocacy, accountability, and awareness building driven both by the global headquarters and through member-led collective action on focus topics and regions.
- Drive engagement with the VV100, ensuring connection, action, and impact between women leaders in the network.
- Represent the Network in major international and regional fora and in the media.
Role specification
- Leadership and Board engagement: As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, role model Vital Voices mission and values collaborating closely with colleagues across the organization and with the Vital Voices Board.
- Strategy: Make a meaningful contribution to Vital Voices organizational strategy and planning, and lead the delivery and maintenance of a strategy, governance and operational plan for the Network, working closely across the Senior Leadership Team, the Vital Voices Board of Directors, and the Network.
- Brand and communications: Lead the brand positioning and communications strategy for the Network, working hand in hand with the VP, Communications.
- Change management: Deliver and implement a change management roadmap to align the internal organization to the new Network strategy, including the existing international chapters and entities; and ensure that the Network continues to adapt and adjust to meet the needs of the Vital Voices strategy, Network members, and the external landscape.
- Funding: Deliver a workable business plan/funding model for the Network and its activities, in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and the Chief Financial Officer; and secure and steward any necessary funders to support Network activity.
- Governance: Establish a Global Committee for the Network (including constitution, terms of reference, and decision-making), taking into account: necessary long-term partnerships, self-governance of the Network, and the role of the Vital Voices secretariat; then lead the Committee in its duties.
- Engagement: Partner with the VP, Communications, the Head of Events, and the VP, Technology and Impact to align face-to-face and digital engagement tools/structures/events to the Network strategy and operational plan - build around clear member journeys.
- Partnerships: Drive the partnerships strategy for the Network, to augment its credibility, influence, and scope for impact; and lead the relationship management of major partners.
- Marketing: Define the value proposition and positioning for the Network, in partnership with the VP, Marketing, to drive Network acquisition and Network retention; and support implementation of the marketing strategy.
- Collective action: Support the Head of Global Advocacy in defining and delivering an evolving model for collective action that drives global impact; including Network participation in global campaigns together with the VP, Communications. .
- Team and budget management: Build and lead a high-performing secretariat for the Network including talent and resource planning; and operationalize and steward a new engagement model and rhythm of the business for the Network, ensuring clarity around roles and responsibilities and staff interactions with Network women and partnerships.
Professional Qualifications
- Demonstrable commitment to the mission of Vital Voices
- 15+ years senior leadership experience within a credible global membership organization
- 10+ years of people and budget management experience
- Deep understanding of, and an established profile in, sustainable development; social impact; or corporate responsibility
- Experience with using digital products for community building and engagement
- Direct international professional experience
- Proven partnerships experience
- Exceptional relationship management and fundraising skills
- Excellence in building and sustaining cross-functional collaboration
- Up to date communications, marketing and digital communications expertise
- Experience of supporting an organization through growth and transformation
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and/or the issues affecting women and girls worldwide
- Fluency in 1-2 UN languages beyond English
