We are actively looking for a Senior Construction Manager to join our Honolulu office. As part of the Construction Group, the Construction Manager directs the systematic and consistent coordination of clients, people, processes, resources, and larger or multiple projects during construction for the mutual success of our Clients, Department, and Company.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of larger or multiple construction projects, activities and within the expertise of design team members.
  • Track and coordinate resource needs with CM's and other Departments
  • Forecast workload for Team and address gaps or excessive workloads
  • Assigns work to CM's and RPR's and monitors their work
  • Perform difficult administrative and complex technical work in directing project management, coordination, and observation of public and private improvement projects for Clients
  • Perform coordination and communication with client, public, contractors, engineers, Project Managers, and other professionals during the construction phase of projects
  • Monitors projects for quality, efficiency, and adherence to various programs, budgetary, and legal requirements
  • Directs and manages critical project construction budgets and administers associated payments to consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Administers approval of project payments, change orders, shop drawings/submittals, and other administrative duties for critical projects
  • Review plans and contract documents for critical projects
  • Process submittal and Request for Information (RFI) with technical team.
  • Be an on-site observer to report on construction progress, adherence to contract documents, and coordinate on site observations with technical experts.
  • Provide technical assistance and solutions and field engineering for critical projects
  • Responsible for general oversight of the Team and potentially approval for changes on projects, construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications and construction cost estimates
  • Schedule and lead critical project meetings and assist PM's and CM's with others
  • Represent our Company in communications with clients for critical projects and assist PM's and CM's
  • Prepare critical agreements including scope, schedule, fees, and terms and conditions and communicate to project team members; review and authorize agreements for CM's; review and approve subconsultant agreements
  • Monitor and report the financial performance of all Team projects and proactively address changes in scope, billing processes, schedules, and any settlements
  • Implement and monitor Accounting and Department procedures for invoicing and collections for Team and engage in procedure initiatives
  • Provide direction to and monitoring of your Team, utilizing experience to resolve scope, design, and other challenges ensuring adherence to all standards, QA/QC processes, and other policies related to project execution and management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience; required
  • 20+ years of construction management experience in port, harbor, and maritime projects; required
  • Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic thinking with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership and team building and engagement skills as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Handle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities
  • Experience with business and strategic planning processes
  • Ability to work with contractors, clients, and team members to solve difficult field situations.
  • Proven track record of developing existing and new client relationships
  • Due to client parameters, selected candidate must show (post offer) proof of U.S. citizenship and clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history

Base salary range:

$179,198 to $219,020 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.

Working conditions:

Majority of work if field based, which may necessitate climbing, navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment. Field work includes exposure to extreme heat, cold or inclement weather. Ability to use standard office equipment.

Physical demands:
Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Travel to and from project site will be required.
