At Ocado Technology, our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) Edge Services department is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Insights and Automation team. We're responsible for the connectivity and edge compute infrastructure that supports our international, robotics-driven automated warehouses.
We value team autonomy and encourage a fail-fast attitude. In our small, close-knit team, you'll have the opportunity to design solutions and shape products from inception to maturity.
About the Role
Insights: Our mission is to provide reliable, meaningful, and accurate data for decision-making. We capture valuable data from IoT devices and network hardware across multiple warehouses, channeling it into a cloud-based data lake. From there, we build dashboards that offer stakeholders crucial insights into their products' performance.
Automation: We reduce toil and improve reliability by automating the management of our on-premise hardware. Our user-friendly, cloud-based applications empower engineering teams, minimizing time spent on routine tasks and reducing the need for specialist support. These applications are built on an innovative IoT platform utilizing AWS Greengrass.

- Cloud Technologies: BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, Looker Studio, AWS IoT
- Tooling: Docker, GitLab CI/CD, Fluentd, Grafana
- Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu)
- You're passionate about high-quality software engineering.
- You can code in Python and enjoy working with data.

- You're open to questioning design decisions to ensure the best outcomes for the team and users.
- You thrive in a smaller team with a strong culture of shared learning and decision-making.
- Experience with web development frameworks.
- A background in data analytics and presenting data effectively.
- Experience in cloud environments, especially AWS or GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization and microservices architectures.
- Exposure to SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices.
