General Statement of Duties

Provides a variety of treatment and/or prevention services to clients with a wide range of psychiatric, emotional, relational, substance abuse or social problems; may provide consultation and education services to specific populations; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
This position provides Prevention Services in a community-based setting including after school program management and community mobilization through coalitions, environmental strategies, and other activities, and provides supervision to part-time staff. R esponsible for creating programs and services for youth 1st - 12th grade and their families and building community partnerships. Additionally, provides MH/SA prevention services to Henrico area communities as the needs arises.
Considerable knowledge of principles of community mental health and/or developmental and intellectual disabilities and/or substance abuse; considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one(1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR , a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR , any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
