Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include documenting safety inspections, reporting non-compliant areas/procedures and recommending corrective actions/procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices. Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators and clothing. Inspects specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies. Tests working areas for noise, toxic and other hazards. Investigates accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program. Demonstrates use of safety equipment. May perform real-time industrial hygiene air monitoring in work areas; collect routine air, dust, gas and vapor samples. Other duties as assigned.
May administer an EHS program on a small-sized project.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Typically works under immediate supervision of the EHS Manager or site management. Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Individual may be required to wear a respirator if classified in environmental work. Must have the ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, in a variety of weather conditions. Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record. Willingness to travel, as required and availability to report to work upon "short notice" (within 24 hours) of job assignment.
Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:
In addition to levels 1 and 2 competencies, has developed specialized knowledge/skills in own area

May coordinate activities of others. Has developed specialized knowledge/skills in own area

Contributes to achievement of team goals; promotes teamwork. High school diploma or equivalent. AS or BS a plus. Basic understanding of physical and biological science; specialized training and certification to meet regulatory requirements (OSHA 1910.120, 40 hour HAZWOPER, applicable 8 hour OSHA training). Typically represents 4-20 years relevant experience.
