The Opportunity

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our core services team. Staff engineers are technical bar raisers for our organization. You will work day-to-day as a code contributor to our product while acting as a technical leader, mentoring less experienced engineers and partnering with Product and other teams to deliver the best possible product to our customers. You will also partner with other senior members of Engineering to scale our architecture, technology, and best practices for long-term growth.

You've worked within an agile environment before and know how to collaborate with your team in an iterative fashion to achieve team goals.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable services to enhance our core services
  • Own architecture and design of our core APIs, Event models, and data pipelines
  • Be a key contributor to our APIs to securely and efficiently access data for internal and external use
  • Embrace technical challenges in a secure and compliant manner
  • Continually make improvements to the quality and scalability of our product
  • Be a key driver of improvement across many engineering Communities of Practice (or guilds in other engineering organizations)
  • Lead teams beyond the status quo, thinking one to two years ahead of where we are to build a path to the future
  • Solve complicated technical problems and analyze trade-offs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 10+ years experience writing code in an object-oriented language, delivering high quality and high impact products and services
  • Strong experience with AWS
  • Strong experience with relational and non-relationship data stores
  • Expert with a modern web application stack, e.g. Python/Django, Node/Express, Java/Spring
  • Experience building applications with Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins
  • Experience with API design, development, and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
