Primary Function: The Principal at Oxford Crossroads Day School leads and oversees the day school within the Oxford Community School district. They develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate all instructional and alternative school programming while adhering to Board policies. Additionally, the principal cultivates an inclusive, welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. They support curriculum, instruction, and assessment to implement district expectations and integrate continuous improvement. The principal also conducts personnel evaluations, sets high expectations for success, collaborates on effective procedures/practices for the school, and works within budgets to allocate funds supporting efficient operations and goal achievement.

Qualifications - Education & Experience
  • Master's degree or higher in the field of administration preferred, with course work in educational leadership and/or curriculum instruction.
  • Michigan Administrative Certification or plan toward obtaining certification per State regulation.
  • Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate in Elementary and/or Secondary Education.
  • Special Education Approval required, or ability to obtain per State regulation (i.e., designation of SE Director, SE Supervisor or SE Endorsement).
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues and best practices, including, but not limited to: Michigan Merit Curriculum, school improvement, general knowledge of instructional technology, reading strategies and process writing, team building and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, staff development, and human relations.
  • Knowledge of current best practice instructional strategies and the ability to improve teacher instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the juvenile judicial system.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with alternative and/or At-Risk students and the ability to manage the social/emotional needs of these students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current federal and state laws and policies.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Function as School Liaison between the Camp Oakland Agency, the Oxford School District, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the courts.
  • Leadership, management, and administration of the Oxford Crossroads Day School Program.
  • Monitor and assess instructional programs in terms of their impact on student achievement.
  • Responsible for the development, coordination, and monitoring of curriculum for the school.
  • Promote, lead, and evaluate the professional growth of staff.
  • Oversee school safety measures, student disciple, and mental health management.
  • Facilitate communications with parents and agency staff.
  • Manage federal grants (Title I D) to help develop program at Oxford Crossroads Day School.
  • Act as the lead for the Master Schedule, testing management, summer school, and transcript evaluations as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a school-wide Positive Behavior Support System.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Support the OCS vision and mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Reports to: Executive Director of Innovative and Alternative Programs

    Salary: Starting at $93,721; commensurate with experience and education per OAA Agreement
