Job Title: Hand and Orthopedic Surgeon
Location: Cranston, Cumberland, and East Providence RI
University Orthopedics (UOI) is looking for a Hand and Orthopedic Surgeon to join our growing musculoskeletal provider team. The position involves joining a cohesive 6 physician group covering Roger Williams and Fatima hospitals as well as integrating with the wider 69 physician provider UOI community. Patients will be seen during patient office hours at our Cranston and Cumberland, RI locations. Surgical procedures will be performed at Roger Williams and Fatima hospitals, and at the University Orthopedics East Bay Surgery Center. On-call responsibilities for General Orthopedics at both hospitals are requirements of the position.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and diagnose conditions related to the hand, wrist, and forearm.
- Perform surgical procedures to treat hand and upper extremity conditions, including fractures, ligament injuries, tendon repairs, and nerve decompressions, as well as acute care of general orthopedic emergent conditions including upper extremity and lower extremity injuries and fractures.
- Manage both acute and chronic conditions affecting the hand, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, arthritis, and congenital anomalies.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, ensuring optimal recovery and rehabilitation.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Teaching of students in training such as medical students, physician assistant students, orthopedic residents, and hand surgery fellows. Based on individual time commitment and responsibilities, an academic appointment at the Warren Albert Medical School of Brown University may be available.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with completion of a residency program in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Fellowship training in Hand Surgery.
- Board eligible or board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery.
- State medical license.
- Strong clinical background with a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Experience in general orthopedics as well as hand surgery preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
