The Superintendent implements all field activities for self-performed work, subcontractor work, and field logistical items by coordinating and managing Pankow employees, union employees, and subcontractors. This role acts as a leader in the field in key focus areas of lean, quality, and safety and acts as the "go-to" person on the jobsite.

JOB SCOPE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary Accountabilities
- Ensure conformance with safety requirements
- Act as the on-site Safety Officer in conformance with the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
- Lead the effort in creating the SSSP
- Ensure safety inspections on a daily basis and that inspections focus on the appropriate high-risk work activities
- Ensure foremen create daily task plans, Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), and Toolbox Talks
- Ensure that subcontractor JHAs are developed and are appropriate for all subcontractor high-risk activities
- Conduct the daily morning huddle to communicate the safety focus areas and coordination of work
- Ensure that safety orientations occur for all Pankow new hires and subcontractor personnel
- Act as the on-site Safety Officer in conformance with the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
- Drive the execution of and complete the work
- Lead the weekly scheduling efforts
- Track and adjust the work of the 3-week schedule and reconcile against the project schedule
- Lead daily lean huddles and promote Pankow's lean culture
- Communicate schedule issues to appropriate team members
- Lead the Pankow team scheduling meetings
- Lead the subcontractor coordination meetings
- Lead the effort for development of means & methods and site logistics for the project
- Ensure quality meets the expectations described in the contract documents
- Ensure understanding of project requirements at every stage of the project
- Monitor compliance with the Project Specific Quality Management Plan (PSQMP)
- Participate in quality control surveys for subcontractor work and self-performed work
- Act as the liaison for all inspectors
- Work collaboratively with the Pankow team
- Communicate consistently and frequently with field engineering staff to obtain detailed information required for construction
- Inform and provide guidance to field engineering staff regarding omissions and conflicts within the documents needing resolution
- Work with team to review estimate and set goals, measure production, and achieve profitability goals
- Obtain most competitive pricing for, and purchase, materials and services
- Work collaboratively with subcontractors
- Lead scope review, preconstruction, and pre-install meetings
- Resolve conflicts and coordination issues
- Communicate expectations for subcontractor participation in Pankow lean culture on the project
- Determine workforce needs to ensure adherence to the schedule
- Ensure that proper notification of back charges to subcontractors is communicated in a timely manner
Secondary Accountabilities
- Complete daily diaries
- Ensure project conformance with all union agreements and OSHA safety requirements
- Supervise and train the field union labor in proper work techniques
- Hire and assign craft foreman and journeyman to work items after utilizing the crew size template and other methods to determine needs
- Manage on-site equipment
- Review time cards from the craft foreman for accuracy and conformance to the cost coding system
- Obtain permits (i.e. crane, OSHA building, etc.) with assistance from the Senior Superintendent / General Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training
- ACI Flatwork Certification preferred
- Union Foreman Management Training preferred
- Safety Trained Supervisor Certification preferred
- Qualified SWPPP's Practitioner (QSP) Certification preferred
- Carpenters Superintendent-in-Training Certification preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Effective communication skills, sense of urgency and ownership, ability to work as part of a team
- Scheduling proficiency required and experience with scheduling software preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum of five years of jobsite management experience as a Pankow foreman or ten years of jobsite management experience
