The Electrical Designer - Test & Measurement Engineer will be responsible for working collaboratively with Test Systems Engineers to transform their project concept drawings into clear, concise, and standardized electrical drawings for manufacturing at the DMC fabrication Studio or using external build partners.

Candidates in (or open to relocate) Chicago are preferred to collaborate with our fabrication studio. If well experienced, you may be considered for your DMC location preference with the ability to travel to Chicago 30%-40% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Interprets and understands project requirements and concept drawings
  • Collaborates with teams to understand quality, efficiency, and cost control
  • Specifies electrical components to meet customer specifications, application requirements, industrial standards, and manufacturing team needs
  • Creates custom electrical panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Creates Test Rack layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Creates Rack sub-system layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Designs wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, and layouts for assembly
  • Creates and maintains AutoCAD Electrical templates, blocks and symbols library
  • Organizes and maintains project drawings/technical information
  • Ability to manage time amongst multiple projects
  • Occasional travel

Requirements
Everything under Engineering Level II is in addition to Engineering Level I.

Engineer Level I (0-3 years relevant experience)
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
  • GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to do basic mechanical and electrical CAD
  • Basic use of Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments (or similar) Data Acquisition (DAQ) equipment, test/instrumentation rack design and layout.
  • Familiarity with common electrical components, connectors, industrial panel designs, and quality control standards such as ISO9001 and AS9100

ITAR Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government commercial space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), applicants for employment at DMC must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the U.S. (i.e. current green card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. Engineer Level II (3-5 years relevant experience)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD electrical (eCAD)
  • Ability to select electrical panel components based on electrical/mechanical requirements
  • Ability to design to UL and IEC requirements, including certification
  • Knowledge of high voltage and high-power component design (both AC and DC)
  • Familiarity with noise mitigation and signal integrity considerations for panel design
  • Familiarity with PCB design and able to develop simple PCB schematic
  • Ability to create PDF drawings utilizing cross reference clicking and BOM from high level requirements
  • Ability to size panels and calculate heating/cooling requirements
  • Familiarity with PL and SIL electrical design requirements, industrial communication network design and safety PLC wiring
  • Basic electrical testing and troubleshooting skills

Starting compensation is based on industry, experience, and location.

3-5 Years of Relevant Experience

$95,000-$110,000 USD
