Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated, resourceful individual for a Senior GIS scientist position to apply relevant skills in GIS and relational database design and management, spatial analysis, programming, and/or data visualization to a diverse range of environmental project settings. You will have the opportunity to join our growing practice in one of our office locations: downtown Boston, MA or Charlottesville, VA.
Gradient is an environmental and health risk sciences consulting firm specializing in environmental sciences, human and ecological risk sciences, product stewardship, and life sciences. Experience and Skills
- Train and supervise early and mid-career staff.
- Manage data- and map-related project tasks.
- Build and maintain environmental databases.
- Prepare and review data summaries and maps.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural sciences, or related field. (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering, natural sciences, or related field. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) on environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience using ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online (required)
- Exceptional written and oral communication. (required)
- Prior experience with environmental data and relational database systems (EQuIS, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS Access). (preferred)
- Experience with web based (e.g. ArcGIS Server) and/or mobile based (e.g. Esri Collector) GIS application development. (preferred)
- Experience with 3D subsurface modeling software (e.g. Leapfrog, Earth Volumetric Studio [EVS]). (preferred)
- Programming and/or coding experience (e.g., Python with Numpy, Scipy; Django, Pandas, or GeoPandas; Matplotlib; R; JavaScript; Power BI). (preferred)
