About the Job:

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for our Rochester operation near Lovelock, NV. This position will report to a the Engineering Superintendent. The successful candidate will be expected to provide for the management of geotechnical risk.

This position will require company-supported relocation to Northern Nevada to work a schedule of 4 days on and 3 days off at the Coeur Rochester mine site located near Lovelock, Nevada.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the geotechnical functions to ensure Rochester's leadership as a safe and efficient operation.
  • Interact and work with various groups, such as Mine Engineering, Mine Operations, IT, and Exploration, as well as industry-recognized consultants, to ensure effective management and mitigation of geotechnical risks.
  • Maintain and update integrated risk management system to manage geotechnical risk.
  • Monitor and implement geotechnical policies and procedures of the Ground Control Management Plan.
  • Recommend alternative procedures, methods, and policies to improve performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements.
  • Conduct geotechnical reviews of mine designs to ensure they are compliant with geotechnical recommendations. Provide geotechnical input to short, mid, and long-range planning.
  • Systematically collect, compile, and analyze geotechnical data. Refine/develop the geotechnical interpretation.
  • Help in the training and skill development regarding geotechnical risk management across the site.
  • Control costs and maximize efficiencies by implementing approved recommendations.


Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • BS in Mine Engineering, Geology, or related field. Masters degree is an asset.
  • Minimum two years operational experience as a geotechnical specialist at a mining operation.
  • Excellent understanding of geotechnical risks and management in hard-rock mining environment.
  • Strong leadership abilities in a production setting. Facilitate communication across groups.
  • Strong working knowledge of slope monitoring equipment, i.e. radars, total stations, piezometers, InSAR, etc
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually, and at all levels of organization.
  • Working knowledge of software such as Canary, Vulcan, PointStudio, Leapfrog, as well as analytical software such as SLIDE, SWEDGE, ROCFALL, and DIPS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good written and oral communication as well as presentation skills.
