THE PROJECT
The DarkStar Group's team provides Analytic Software Development, Data Engineering, and Cloud Migration services, as well as interagency communication and data-sharing solutions, as part of an enterprise program that spans two major Intelligence Community customers. This project regularly has new openings for Software Engineers, Cloud Infrastructure Experts, DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, SharePoint Developers and Administrators, ServiceNow Developers, and various other types of IT professionals.
Work on this program takes place in Herndon, McLean, and Bethesda (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance (acceptable to this customer).
THE ROLE
The DarkStar Group is seeking a Systems Engineer for our team! As a member of a small development/O&M team you will work with the government customer transforming legacy applications into a cloud environment. Work closely with customers to define requirements, implement business logic and refine applications. Provide oversight and strategic direction in the development enterprise and system Architecture practices, principles, documentation, and governance. Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in system engineering support across the enterprises IT disciplines (i.e. Virtual & Physical Servers, Cloud technologies, Network, etc.).

The DarkStar Group is seeking a Systems Engineer for our team! Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in system engineering support across the enterprises IT disciplines (i.e. Virtual & Physical Servers, Cloud technologies, Network, etc.).
Duties Include:
- Develop and maintain scripts to Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data ingests.
- Develop scripts to establish direct connections to various systems containing data required for business analytic work and application operation.
- Automate data ingest processing when required
- Asist in navigating the security accreditation process, to include (i) documenting the as-built system configuration; (ii) updating configurations to meet system accreditation requirements; and (iii) working and coordinating with accreditation assessors and information system security managers.
- Support the dissemination of reporting to access-controlled users.
- Assist with data sharing and acquisition requirements
- Implement changes to current applications and data pipelines based on Sponsor requirements
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferably in an IT related field 8 years of related experience; or a Masters with 6 years of experience; an Associates with 10 years of experience.
- At least 7 or more years of specialized experience with enterprise & systems architecture
- 3+ years of experience with cloud migration solutions and hybrid cloud management solutions.
- 3+ years of in-depth experience on system disaster recovery/COOP and backup solution engineering, implementation, and operation management.
- In-depth experience in VMWare and other virtualization technologies.
- Successful track record in providing technical leadership in delivering architecture, engineering, and operation services.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience developing and integrating multiple data sources to provide customized Dashboards for senior management and government clients.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework, high availability, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience creating secure applications systems utilizing IC security guidelines and utilizing Customer Authentication and Authorization systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and maintaining the Information Technology Infrastructure associated with an IT system hosted in the C2S environment.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and assessing impact of proposed scope changes to future architectures. Experience accrediting IT systems under the ICD 503 Certification and Accreditation Process.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Strong public speaking skills and professional demeanor required. Ability to create original documentation.
- Ability to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job; Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel
Desired Skills (Optional)
- Demonstrated experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g AWS, Azure) is desired
- Experience with enterprise-level deployments, to include customer governance, policy definitions, policy management and automation, and customer interfaces used to deliver integrated security solutions across multiple security domains is desired
