Saturn has an opportunity for a full time Capital Accountant based in the Calgary, Alberta office. The Capital Accountant will be an integral part of the Operations Accounting team with the primary focus on capital/AFE accounting and reporting.

Some specific duties, and responsibilities of the Capital Accountant include, but are not limited to:
  • Verify, approve, and maintain setup of AFE's in Qbyte FM.
  • Follow up and retrieve documentation on AFE's that are outstanding or needing partner approvals and work with Land and Operations to resolve any issues.
  • Reconcile and manage suspense and jib suspense accounts.
  • Prepare monthly capital accruals based on thorough cost analysis of AFE's within the deadlines.
  • Maintain working relationships with Operations to understand progress of projects and operational initiatives as they relate to Capital.
  • Work with operations and facilities to identify when material transfers are required and ensure all entries are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly overspend reports for AFE's over budget, ensuring AFEs are supplemented.
  • Manage and reconcile cash call payable.
  • Record and provide supporting documentation for Capital Insurance.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • A minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience in oil and gas
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail while managing multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of Qbyte, AFE Navigator, CS Explorer and Jiblink
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
  • A professional accounting designation is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to clearly communicate at all levels and provide resolution to complex issues
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
