Job Description

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Application Software Services professional to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The primary responsibility of this role is to assist Government Program and Project Leads in implementing disciplined, comprehensive, and flexible program and software development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with data transfer and extraction using standard data formatting such as JSON, XML, TSV, and CSV.
  • Code in languages including Objectscript, SQL, and DAX, and engage in Power BI data modeling.
  • Design, develop, create, test, modify, and deploy web-based applications, web-based reporting, and enterprise-level data Extraction, Transformation, and Loads (ETLs).
  • Analyze supply chain databases and design/produce reports using various information management research tools, systems, and processes.
  • Develop and distribute strategic messaging for respective programs and projects to the user community.
  • Analyze current and/or required database repositories to design new and improved information for decision-making for upper management and standardization teams.
  • Collaborate with management, departments, and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, test, and deploy program applications in web and database environments.
  • Compile and assess user feedback and recommend changes to improve software performance of existing software products.
  • Develop technical documentation for current software products and guide future software development projects.
  • Meet and deliver daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly assigned project workload milestones and reporting as established by SCS Government Program and Project Leads.

The position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site presence of up to five days every pay cycle at the Department of Veterans Affairs, 811 Vermont Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20420.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • 3-year recent experience, certified and proficient with technologies including C#, ASP & ASP.NET, TSQL, JavaScript, HTML, and other identified technologies.
  • Knowledge of data transfer and extraction using standard data formatting such as JSON, XML, TSV, and CSV.
  • Knowledge of coding in languages including Objectscript, SQL, and DAX, and in Power BI data modeling.
  • Expert in software development practices with in-depth software program design, logical problem solving, and algorithm design.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Proficiency with Power BI data modeling.
  • Proficiency in Objectscript, SQL, and DAX.
  • Knowledge of database repositories and information management tools.
  • Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal agencies.

Eligibility:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The proposed salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000.
