Position Summary

The Facilities Engineer will support the maintenance department through managing waste streams, processing water recycling equipment, equipment malfunction diagnosis, and equipment reliability improvements. Will also be heavily involved with implementation of environmental and safety protocols at the facility. The Facilities Engineer reports to the Maintenance and is an on-site position.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain waste streams and process water recycling equipment, including the operation and maintenance of the Process Water Reclamation Equipment, FPI Rinse, and Spent CNC Coolant systems.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance and reporting, ensuring timely completion and filing for regulatory requirements, including the Industrial Wastewater Zero Discharge Permit, CUPA regulations, and APCD permits.
  • Supervise the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and overseeing the maintenance of chemical process auxiliary equipment like Kolene Post Clean tanks and air scrubbers.
  • Implement and manage safety and environmental risk assessments, including championing corrective actions and ensuring compliance with the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  • Assist in diagnosing equipment failures and proposing effective repair solutions, and support maintenance efforts by assigning work orders with input from the Maintenance Lead and Department Manager.
  • Support inventory management through audits and ordering supplies, ensuring the availability of spare parts.
  • Promote continuous improvement through 5S and Kaizen events, enhancing departmental efficiency and organization.
  • Champion safety and environmental initiatives, including overseeing Safety and Environmental Risk Assessments and corrective actions.

Experience and Education
  • 4-year college degree in an engineering or related science field
  • HAZWOPER 40 certification, preferred
  • Ability to work with hand tools and functional knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions
  • Proven ability to effectively present and communicate in front of groups
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Advance knowledge of Office 365 applications and maintenance service software
