FirstCarbon Solutions is searching for a Senior Sustainability Manager (CG09) to join our expanding, and fast-paced Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team. Working in an evolving ESG space with diverse corporate clients, we are looking for a growing leader with technical expertise in sustainability and ESG strategy areas: Scope 3 Carbon Accounting, Climate Risk Analysis, ESG Regulations, Science-based Targets, and Decarbonization planning. The ideal individual will have a passion for the subject matter, advanced technical expertise/background, and a drive to continually learn and expand their career in corporate sustainability.

Working directly with the ESG Directors Team, the Senior Manager will work to develop the ESG strategy team's technical capabilities, manage strategy team members, lead the delivery of technical work, and liaise with clients. With support from our marketing team, they will also be responsible for supporting cross-selling ESG service offerings to new and existing clients.

As part of the Sustainability team, you will be expected to serve as a project director as a technical and subject expert and have the ability to think strategically and creatively about the client's corporate context and sustainability challenges. This individual will apply knowledge about energy, emissions, water, waste, and other CSR topics to the myriad of projects we work on. The Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring the alignment of expectations between the ADEC technical team and the client, managing workload and schedules to meet project deadlines. The role will also contribute to the management and training of the global team of sustainability professionals.

This role will report to the Vice President, Impact, who oversees the ESG consulting team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage technical aspects of ESG, Sustainability, or similar projects with multiple clients
  • Leader, manager, doer: ability to take on any one of those roles when the situation requires
  • Sustainability and ESG technical subject matter expert in several of the following: Scope 3 Carbon Accounting and data management, Climate Risk Analysis, ESG Regulations, Science-based Targets, and Decarbonization planning
  • Developing scopes of work and budgets for proposals
  • Coach, mentor, guide, and want to help grow our team members, particularly regarding best practices in conducting ESG / sustainability analysis and technical project deliverables
  • Conduct and teach the technical analyses of energy, waste, water, or other resource areas related to resource management, cost savings, or data management
  • Manage project-assigned staff at different levels of the organization to ensure projects are completed on time, on scope, and on budget

Education and Experience
  • GHG emission calculations/verification ideally with a certification in at least one protocol
  • Implementing disclosure and sustainability frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, Integrated Reporting, UN SDGs
  • Science-based targets compliant analysis and SBT submissions
  • Climate risk (physical and transition) analysis, quantitative and qualitative
  • Awareness of global ESG regulations, and their implications related to the growing rigor and standards of technical ESG deliverables
  • Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of sustainability technical work and project delivery, ideally in a consulting environment

Work Environment

The position operates in a dynamic and highly collaborative working environment. FCS is dedicated to providing our staff the opportunity to elect remote, hybrid home/office as well as office location options. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Salary: $110,000-$140,000
