Summary/Objective

The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager drives the financial performance and strategic decision-making on behalf of PayrollOrg (PAYO) and its affiliated companies. The successful candidate is responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, as well as providing insightful financial data and recommendations to senior management and business leaders. In addition, this position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial understanding and performance, develop, and maintain robust financial models, and ensure effective financial controls and compliance. The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager works in a deadline-driven, results oriented environment.

  • Financial Reporting
    • Produces accurate and timely financial statements and other periodic reports and ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and not-for-profit requirements.
    • Provides analysis of monthly financial and operational results, including interpretation of current month's results.
    • Analyzes data and existing reporting to develop enhanced qualitative and quantitative reporting.
  • Partnership and Collaboration
    • Partners with business leaders to enhance their understanding of financial performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and recommendations for strategic initiatives, investments, and business development opportunities.
    • Mentors members of the Finance & Accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning
    • Leads the preparation, administration, consolidation, and analysis of the annual budgeting processes.
    • Assists in the development of annual budgets, interim forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
    • Assists with company financial goal setting and strategy.
  • Cash Flow and Compliance
    • Monitors and tracks the organization's operating cash flow and liquidity metrics.
    • Assists in ensuring corporate compliance with statutory reporting and filings, including various tax and regulatory reporting requirements and filings.
    • Supports annual audits performed by external auditors.
  • Strategic Financial Support
    • Conducts analyses to gain deeper insights into the business, aiding management in scaling, managing, and growing the business predictably and profitably.
    • Supports the evaluation of capital allocation decisions and return on investment analysis.
    • Develops and maintains financial models to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Project Management
    • Ensures business results, analytics, and metrics are prepared in an accurate, repeatable, and timely manner.
    • Maintains compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.

    • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control procedures.
    • Self-starter, proactive, strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills who enjoys transforming and building systems to improve organizational operations.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated track record of developing financial models to identify insights and enable key financial decision-making.
    • Knowledge of business analytics tools and financial software;.
    • Expert in Excel and proficient in other Microsoft 365 tools.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to work extended hours in order to accomplish deadlines, or during high-peak financial and accounting periods.


    Required Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    • 3+ years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analysis with business acumen to develop partnerships with stakeholders.
    • 1 year of management experience
    • Expertise in financial and business systems (Billing, ERP, BI, CRM) with specific expertise in Sage Intacct required.
    • Experience in preparation and analysis of financial statements


    Preferred Education and Experience
    • Strong experience with Power BI preferred
    • Cost accounting experience in multiple companies and profit centers
    • Experience with Access


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred


    Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Direct reports may include staff accountants responsible for day-to-day activities in financial reporting, regulatory filings, etc.
    • Participates in annual performance appraisal process.
    • Follows company's performance improvement and corrective action process.
    • Participates in interview and selection process for department.


    Internal and External Interfaces
    • Internal: Key stakeholders of the company with regular interaction with Customer Service, Education, Executive Office, Legal, Payroll, and Technology department team members, and Senior Management.
    • External: Bankers, Customers, Members, and Subscribers, External Audit and Tax Staff, Insurance Brokers and Carriers, Investment Firms, Legal, Software Consultants, and Third-Party Service Providers.

    Requires prolonged sitting, walking, and standing depending on the job tasks with bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, crouching, and stretching, and lifting to 20 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other technology equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Prolonged exposure to computer monitors. Normal office environment.
