Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Director of HR, the HRBP - Faculty Relations provides strategic expertise to the academic management team on faculty relations and full life-cycle HR matters. This role involves policy interpretation, faculty engagement, faculty (employee) relations, succession planning, performance management and internal investigations. The HRBP will also manage relationships with academic leaders, administrators, faculty, lecturers, and instructors.

The HRBP will also manage relationships with academic leaders, administrators, faculty, lecturers, and instructors.
Specific Responsibilities
The HR Business Partner - Faculty Relations, will, at various times, be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support UCW's business objectives, mission, and purpose:
- Advise and support Program Chairs on employment matters related to faculty, and instructors.
- Develop policies and procedures governing faculty employment.
- Act as a senior advisor to the VPA on faculty relations matters.
- Coach on appropriate actions and solutions for all employment issues pertaining to faculty
- Respond to employee concerns, keeping Program Chairs and VPA informed.
- Develop strategies to protect the university's interests and reduce risks.
- Anticipate and address future developments in faculty relations.
- Provide guidance on interpretation, compliance, and administration of university policies and employment legislation.
- Manage complaints and disputes, facilitating resolution among stakeholders and Lead workplace investigations where required.
- Advise on disciplinary actions, assisting in drafting responses.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with academic leaders and faculty.
- Represent the VPA's office in university-wide committees.
- Consult with external legal counsel as needed.
Project Based Assignments:
- Lead projects related to performance management, executive coaching, and leadership development.
- Develop and deliver information sessions, training, and orientation for faculty and Program Chairs.
- Support in analysis and recommendations related to job satisfaction, compensation, and retention.
Position Requirements

- Strong understanding of the post-secondary sector.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years progressive HR experience in the same or similar role, at a post-secondary institution mandatory
- Graduate degree in HR, Organizational Behaviour, Education, Leadership, Business, or equivalent.
- CHRP or CHRL (preferred).
- Detailed knowledge of university practices and employment law.
- Excellent knowledge of employment statutes and principles of employment law.
- Experience developing training materials and leading training programs.
