DESCRIPTION:
The Analytical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for all analytical laboratory functions, including chemical, mechanical, thermo-mechanical and microscopic testing and reporting. The incumbent is primarily responsible for the development of analytical testing methods, operation and management of analytical test equipment, including ICP-MS, FE-SEM, LPC and Confocal microscopy. Development and interpretation of test results as it applies to standards, qualifications and failure analysis activities of analytical test equipment and test methods, maintenance of equipment, and reporting and interpretation of all test results as it applies to standards, qualifications, and failure analysis of analytical test equipment and test methods, maintenance of equipment, and reporting and interpretation of all test results as it applies to standards, qualifications, and failure analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Chemical ICP-MS acid extraction analysis.
- Liquid Particle extraction and analysis.
- Metallurgical and materials analysis.
- Supervise chemical analysis and interpretation of analytical results.
- Mechanical and thermo-mechanical testing.
- SEM, EDS methods and analysis
- Knowledge to coordinate other outside analytical testing techniques such as GDMS, XRD, EBSD, FTIR, GCMS and TGA.
- Create analytical testing methodology.
- Lead failure analysis activities.
- Create and maintain all laboratory records of analysis and interpret test data using SPC methodology.
- Compile and present all analytical data of test results to auditors.
- Generation of Laboratory Certification of Compliance.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry.
- 8+ years of analytical experience.
- Expertise of ThermoElectro/ThermoFisher ICP-MS a must
- Knowledge of FE-SEM techniques.
- Knowledge of Liquid Particle Count analysis and instrumentation.
- Strongly desire semiconductor manufacturing/process knowledge.
- Deep functional understanding of the operation of complex laboratory equipment including SEM, EDX, ICP-MS, LPC and optical/digital photo microscopy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle delicate parts.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns.
- The physical environment requires the employee to work in a normal office setting with frequent visits to the manufacturing floor.
- The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
- Low noise levels in office environment.
- High noise levels while working near operating machines.
- Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
- Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
