Overview

Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the operational, fiscal and personnel activities to ensure the provision of high quality, safe patient/family centered care at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Advocates for resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care. Practices as a nursing leader consistently with applicable state nursing practice regulations, applicable ASC policies and procedures, and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the surgical schedule to meet anticipated staffing needs.
  • Plans adequate staffing and adjustments in alignment with patient volume and clinical needs.
  • Helps to manage the ASC, to ensure clinical competency of staff, quality of patient/family centered care and professional development of clinical staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for best practices and continued improvement and oversees implementation of such practices.
  • Responsible for operationalizing best practices in team care coordination.
  • Proactively accesses safety risks and promotes and models a culture of safety.
  • Helps to manage staff and processes to achieve outcomes and organizational goals in regard to clinical quality, patient safety, and patient experience.
  • Ensures that unit facilities and equipment meet necessary standard and monitors utilization of equipment.
  • Assures that Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standards are met in the clinical area. Assures that evidenced based practice and nursing practice standards are achieved in the clinical area.
  • Assumes accountability for maintaining a safe work environment in alignment with Dartmouth-Hitchcock's commitment to employee safety and regulatory requirements including but not limited to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CMS and applicable state and federal law.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.


  • Qualifications

    • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
    • Master's degree strongly preferred.
    • Supervisory and/or management experience required.
    • 5 years of progressive responsibility within an Ambulatory Surgery Center/ PeriOperative setting required.
    • Must obtain and maintain clinical competencies within assigned unit.
    • Clinical or professional certification preferred.


    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for PACU only
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
