As a seasoned expert in the Energy field, this role demonstrates expertise in the energy analysis of building HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems for a wide array of projects across CPL's diverse practice areas. The role will also include development of Energy Performance Contracts for multiple building types.
As a senior member of the Energy and Building Systems Engineering (BSE) teams, the role of the) Project Manager will be to lead the technical audit, review, and development of energy conservation projects. This role requires the candidate to lead a team of Junior and Mid-level engineers and lead technical projects across the company footprint. Additionally, this candidate should have the expertise to lead commissioning efforts across the company's diverse portfolio of new and retrofit projects inclusive of all practice verticals.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- BS in Mechanical or Energy engineering and have 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 8 years focused on Energy Engineering
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred
- A background including zero net energy projects is a plus
- Proficient in identifying energy saving opportunities for building systems
- Ability to perform energy calculations and utility bill analyses with ease
- Experience performing energy audits and implementing energy projects
- Fundamental knowledge of applicable codes and standards - mechanical and energy codes, American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards, etc.
- Proficient in fleet and building electrification best practices or able to quickly learn and adapt.
- Aptitude for creative problem-solving, particularly in time-sensitive situations which require fast turnaround
- Proficiency in building commissioning
- Ability to create a commissioning program and directly or indirectly lead a team across the company footprint
CORE DUTIES
- Lead team of junior/mid-level engineers and provide mentoring
- Lead Fleet Electrification Planning (FEP) efforts and continue to build on existing energy and routing modeling tools
- Research and provide recommendations to clients for hydrogen fueling and/or extraction projects.
- Perform initial Energy Use Index benchmarking to vet potential prospect opportunities
- Perform ASHRAE Level I audits/feasibility studies for prospective opportunities
- Assist clients with creating RFP documents
- Create technical review documents for RFP grading and client recommendation
- Work in conjunction with CPL BSE team to prepare final design and NYSED submittal paperwork for K-12 Energy Performance Projects (EPC)
- Work with BSE team to review high efficiency system design and provide feedback and recommendations.
- Respond to the NYSED and other governing body design questions/clarification
- Assist with EPC RFP structure and process
- Determine applicability, preparation of forms, and completion of energy studies (ASHRAE Level II, etc.). NYSERDA, Utility, State and Federal incentive and grant programs. Sustainable product and services research
- Assist with creating processes for developing new sustainable/energy services to new and existing clients.
- Participate in, or potentially lead, client interviews.
- Effectively manage and lead projects from initial conception to completion, including performing all client facing functions.
