SUMMARY
Provide required support in the practical application of quality engineering tools such as Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and FMEA's in support of high-volume/high reliability manufacturing. Can work and/or lead teams to provide quality engineering support to ensure quality of shipped product, to help resolve the correction of quality escapes, and address other customer quality concerns as they arise. Support quality functions related to plant operation quality and following processes. This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.

Capable to conduct the principle duties and responsibilities for Quality Engineer I in addition to those listed below:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum educational experience includes a Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum 3 years of experience working in a quality or related capacity for a high volume manufacturing firm. Emphasis on statistics and statistical process control preferred. Knowledge of common quality engineering testing procedures (DOE's, PFMEA's, etc.), control plans, structured problem solving techniques, statistical analysis preferred.

Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex data, drawings, schematics, to design and implement new equipment or planning new experiments. Must be able to generate, adapt or modify process controls, procedures, and other related documentation. Requires interpretation of complex data for designing new devices or planning new experiments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc. manufacturing processes.

The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.

- Help maintain compliance to company's quality management system by conducting scheduled internal audits and tracking any findings through resolution.
- Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality control plans, SPC charts, quality procedures, management procedures, etc.
- Actively participate and facilitate problem solving efforts using structure problem solving tools driving to root cause(s) and ensuring effective and sustainable countermeasures are established and implemented.
- Directly interface with the customer to support timely resolution to customer complaints. Proactively participate in problem solving effort that drives timely resolution to customer complaints.
- Facilitate and/or lead engineering support and analysis for internal and external issues and process improvement projects.
- Provide necessary product development support in Integrated Product Teams (IPT's) to ensure product and process performance comply with all customer requirements prior to launch.
- Regularly communicate with Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvements.
