Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision of the Vice President for Academics, Student Affairs, and Research, the Director of Data Analysis and Research is responsible for providing data analysis, research support, reporting and communication in support of the mission of the South Carolina Technical College System. The Director of Data Analysis and Research will conduct studies, including the use of statistical models, to address higher education-related research questions. Designs, conducts, documents, and evaluates results/research of studies/journal articles related to various areas of higher education. Responds to specific data analysis and research requests from executive leaders and legislative stakeholders and prepares materials ranging from detailed, descriptive and graphical reports to concise summaries and talking points for a variety of audiences at all levels of the agency. Provides expert analysis and counsel in the review and development of data-related goals, metrics, policies, and implementation strategies to further the strategic goals of the agency. Manages projects from inception to completion including annual state and federal reporting, factbook and dashboard updates, surveys, and research studies.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. Knowledge of higher education both within and outside of South Carolina. Knowledge of state, federal, and regional educational and economic databases. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with various stakeholders. Work independently, as well as with a team and limited supervision. Ability to balance multiple tasks; analyze and synthesize complex data and information and prepare written summaries. Strong knowledge of research methods, including quantitative and qualitative methods; experience with primary data analysis using SAS, SPSS, R, or another standard statistical analysis software package. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in public policy, applied statistics, data science, analytics, social science research, measurement, assessment, research methods, quantitative psychology, or related discipline and related experience.
