We are seeking an individual with over 8 years of proven RPG programming experience on AS400 systems, ideally within the past 12-15 years. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the vital statistics applications.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the vital statistics applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex analysis, design, development, and maintenance using RPG/400 and related tools.
- Develop and maintain system and program documentation.
- Test modifications and enhancements to ensure system integrity and performance.
- Debug and resolve production issues following system development processes and standards.
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to junior programmers.
- Work under the direct supervision of the State of Alabama Team Lead and technical experts.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in CL/400, RPG/400, ILE RPG, and SQL RPGLE.
- Experience with Query 400, Aldon Change Management Software, and ImagePlus.
- Strong understanding of AS400 Screen Design Aid (SDA) and subfiles.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions with partial information.
- Competency in all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.
- Experience with Windows and MS Office tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to current software systems and tools relevant to the team.
- Strong capability to understand business requirements and assist in documentation using MS Office Suite.
- Mandatory skill in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems effectively.

- Document new and updated operational procedures accurately.
- Ensure the accuracy of static data, configurations, and setups.
- Participate in peer review processes to maintain high-quality standards.
- Adapt to changing priorities and respond flexibly to evolving project demands.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of verifiable RPG programming experience on AS400 systems in the last 12-15 years.
- Ability to qualify for State of Alabama merit employment as a Programmer Analyst.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
