The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Engineering and Technical Management (EN) Directorate seeks a highly experienced and motivated Principal System Engineer to lead Digital Engineering policy and Systems Engineering guidance to facilitate technology integration for capability delivery.

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Engineering and Technical Management (EN) Directorate seeks a highly experienced and motivated Principal System Engineer to lead Digital Engineering policy and Systems Engineering guidance to facilitate technology integration for capability delivery.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the development and implementation of Digital Engineering strategies, processes, and standards across AFRL to enable technology integration and capability delivery across classification boundaries, ensuring alignment with AFMC Digital Engineering Requirements and OSD Mission Engineering best practices.
- Facilitate product interoperability across weapon systems, accelerate technology development, and streamline capability delivery by leveraging open systems architectures as well as other relevant Department of Air Force open architectures.
- Serve as EN's Systems Engineering expert for ensuring and assisting with implementation of systems engineering best practices across AFRL's largest and highest visibility efforts, providing digital engineering feedback and guidance to program leadership to facilitate implementation of digital engineering best practices.
- Define Digital Engineering business requirements for infrastructure; lead discussions with IZ articulating business needs to inform infrastructure decisions.
- Participate in the development of DAF digital engineering policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) standards, collaborating with other organizations and stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships which support the development and deployment of digital engineering capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership, expertise, and guidance to other team members, as well as external stakeholders and customers, to include identifying training requirements and work with AFRL Human Capital Team to deliver training across AFRL workforce.

- Systems Engineer (0801): To meet eligibility of a Systems Engineer, applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Degree in Engineering. The program must have been ABET accredited. - Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade level or equivalent grade of the position being advertised.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive experience working with classified research and development programs.
- Storng technical background in engineering and development, with expertise in digital engineering, including model-based systems engineering, digital twins, and digital threads.
- Experience with modern engineering and analysis tools, such as AFSIM, Cameo, Matlab, as well as tools for managing intricate technology development and integration programs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a track record of delivering results on complex projects.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in system engineering, with a focus on technology development for capability integration.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience leading advanced technology development and/or capability integration programs.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience integrating technical efforts across classification boundaries.
