Position Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will oversee the accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all financial regulations, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and government contracting requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, a keen attention to detail, and experience in managing external audits.
We are looking for candidates with the ability to participate in spirited trade off discussions, who find excitement in ambiguity, and with a passion for mentoring, developing, and motivating talented staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team are crucial for success in this role. This position will report to the Sr. Director - Corporate Controller and will have direct reports.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment to ensure compliance with SOX and other applicable regulations.
- Manage the preparation and consolidation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate and lead financial audit process, liaising external auditors to ensure efficient and compliant audit engagements.
- Implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Provide support for government contract accounting and reporting, including compliance with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Support the Controller in the development and implementation of financial and accounting strategies.
- Prepare and file local, state, and federal government reports and tax returns.
- Partner with IT in administration of company's accounting software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA is required. MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Experience in the manufacturing and/or defense contracting industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and government contracting financial regulations.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Operate in a way that never compromises ethics and integrity
- US citizenship is required due to government contract work.
