About the Team

The Product Design team is key in translating strategic objectives into actionable plans and designs for developers to execute on. The Senior UX researcher is instrumental in guiding product solutions and advocating for a user-centered culture.

About the role

The Senior UX Researcher conducts studies across all Auctane products to inform key projects. They create research protocols, recruit users, conduct interviews, and perform usability testing, as well as support the rest of the product and design team in carrying out these same activities.

What will you be doing?

• Create a framework for the practice of UX research at Auctane and evangelize it throughout the organization.
  • Establish an improved process for design research at Auctane that follows best practices and supports the team in project execution
  • Create supporting templates, databases, and education
  • Level up the expertise of the rest of the product design team
  • Create a format for storing research findings in a shareable and searchable location

• Promote UX research and user insights across the company, to build a culture of customer-centric problem-solving and raise the bar of product excellence.
  • Mentor designers and product managers by providing thoughtful and constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for research input
  • Present concepts to the company during new hire onboarding as well as during company meetings
  • Support team in data collection and synthesis

• Provide expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and tools, translating research findings into actionable strategies.
  • Pull deep insights from both quantitative and qualitative data to help drive strategy
  • Support the design and product teams in research activities, advise on the best research methods, and ensure the trustworthiness of the studies
  • Facilitate the experimentation workstream with the outsourced team (we use Optimizely)

• Conduct customer research (generative and evaluative) to validate ideas and locate new problems to solve.
  • Contact users and conduct interviews to gain insight and Auctane product (ShipStation, Stamps, ShipEngine) use
  • Interact with customers regularly via support center, phone calls, contextual inquiries - in order to understand their point of view and pain points
  • Set up and/or QA Optimizely tests, assist in interpreting the results, and drive insights from the data
  • Review user interactions using analytics and reporting tools to see how users are interacting with the product

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in research or related field
• At least 5 years and solid understanding andof experience in various research methods, including synthesis,\ and testing.
• Experience as a UX Researcher at a SaaSs company or product design firm
• Experience owning all phases of research to inform product development, from foundational through evaluative stages
• Experience building and/or optimizing research processes or functions within a SaaAAS company or product research group.

• Previous experience within the eCommerce or Shipping software industry
• Previous experience building a research practice from scratch
