Objective of the Job:

The Manager of Advanced Product Engineering will develop and lead BRS pre-production activities by relating material capabilities, qualifications and selection with automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers. This position will lead BRS efforts in identifying future requirements based on market usage and application trends. The Manager of Advanced Product Engineering will evaluate, prioritize, and develop product and application opportunities and successfully deploy these solutions for the customer. This position will strategically coordinate these activities with the BRS commercial and product development teams to position BRS with the best opportunities for market success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Understanding Health, Safety, Environmental, ResponsibleSteel and Quality programs while developing or executing strategies to address issues and how they can be integrated into the business plan.
2) Knowledge of ResponsibleSteel requirements for reduction of environmental impacts and energy reduction, concerns for local communities and stakeholders, and/or preservation of diversity.
3) Manage, develop, and prioritize the OEM/Tier1 team to support product and application developments to initiate and complete design projects and to promote BRS advanced automotive products in production vehicles.
4) Work closely with the customer's Materials Engineering, Product Design and Release Engineering and Sourcing organizations to support the use of BRS product in automotive applications.
5) Support the investigation, identification, and definition of new or enhanced products and/or revenue opportunities. 6) Facilitate technology exchange meetings between BRS and our customers to promote the understanding and use of BRS products.
7) Manage the implementation of future roadmap for grade/product development to direct research and development activities and lead trial activities of new products across all BRS facilities.
8) Work with BRS Product Development and other stakeholders to develop and refine product designs.
9) Stay abreast of customer specific issues, trends, and developments that are relevant for product development or evaluating product design opportunities.
10) Serve as a representative for commercial and technical customer discussions.
11) Work with Product Managers and commercial managers to assess how/if potential new product opportunities fit into the overall product strategy.
12) Ability to travel domestic and internationally 50% or more of the time.

Qualifications:

1) Bachelor's degree in mechanical or material science engineering or related engineering field with at least eight years or master's degree with at least six years of proven experience in automotive Body in-White (BIW), Closures, and Chassis development and implementation into product applications with strong sense of business case development.
2) Must have a good understanding of sheet metal forming principles, HSS and AHSS materials commonly used in today's applications and be able to recommend material alternatives based on application and product geometry.
3) Experience with automotive OEM material specifications preferred.
4) Exceptional communications, collaboration, and leadership skills are required, with the ability to work with various levels of customer and corporate management to ensure implementation.
5) Ability to use and navigate common business software packages.
6) Proven ability to develop innovative automotive solutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This is a remote position that requires a flexible schedule. Hours could include overtime, nights and weekends as well as travel with little or no advance notice. This position requires the ability to work in hot/cold manufacturing environments.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not supervise others.
