SUMMARY

This Development Project Cost Accountant is mainly responsible for accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial results, including development project revenue recognition, and labor and cost tracking. This position needs to apply principles of accounting when recording transactions, analyzing financial information, and preparing routine and ad hoc financial reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for month end financial closing in SAP; including analysis and reporting of development project costs and tracking of labor resources
  • Month end close duties, including preparation and booking of journal entries, and G/L reconciliations
  • Monthly calculation and booking of development project revenue. Translate monthly PCT (development project expense tracker) prepared by Project Managers to revenue recognition
  • Maintain, monitor, and report results from RATT technical time tracking tool; Distribute actual results to Project Managers by project
  • Support completion of development project portion of monthly Site Monitoring Tool for actual financial results; provide analysis and commentary on results
  • Business Partner to PMO and development functions for preparation of cost center budgets and analysis of monthly financial transactions
  • Budget and forecast development project revenues and costs, including technical support hours
  • Support preparation of development project portion of Budget Cost Model for annual budget and quarterly forecasts; provide analysis and commentary on results
  • Back-up to Senior Cost Accountant (Commercial Projects)
  • Ad hoc projects on an as needed basis

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent in Finance or Accounting from 4-year college or university and 5-7 years of related experience in a Manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Hands on experience with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and mainframe systems (i.e., SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
