Responsibilities
The Director, Rail Accounts will be responsible for overseeing and developing the day-to-day relationships, as well as managing the growth and yield strategy, with our railroad partners. This key leadership role ensures the alignment of our services with client expectations, while driving business growth and continuous improvement, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. The Director will manage the full spectrum of client interactions, including participating in Requests for Proposals (RFPs), addressing billing discrepancies, negotiating contracts, and delivering compelling presentations both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management:
- Own and manage day-to-day interactions with railroad clients, serving as the primary point of contact for all account-related matters.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships by understanding client needs, offering solutions, and ensuring satisfaction.
- RFP Participation:
- Lead the preparation and submission of RFPs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive and compelling proposals that align with client requirements and internal business objectives.
- Billing and Contract Management:
- Address and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Lead contract negotiations with railroads, ensuring acceptable terms and conditions that align with company goals and risk tolerance.
- Presentations and Communication:
- Develop and deliver persuasive presentations to both internal stakeholders and external clients, articulating the value of our services and solutions.
- Serve as a key spokesperson for the company during client meetings, industry conferences, and other relevant events.
- Strategic Account Planning:
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth, enhance customer loyalty, and identify new business opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to proactively address potential challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including Sales, Operations, Finance, and Legal, to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Provide insights and feedback to senior leadership regarding client needs, service improvements, and product development opportunities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum 10- years' experience in a similar professional field of work, 10-years' experience in Account Management or Sales preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan development to close
- Ability to communicate, present, and influence all levels of an organization, including executives, senior level management, and stakeholders at all levels
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities with attentiveness to details and execution
- Proven ability to position products & services against competitors
- Ability to operate at the strategic level yet being close enough to the details to add value to customers
- Track record of contributing to cross-functional teams
- Experience in managing and monitoring performance metrics across accounts and accounts portfolios
- History of excellent customer support
- Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Excellent quantitative, verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
- Effectively manages up and down
- Must be able to competently manage competing, multiple tasks simultaneously
