Role Overview:
This position manages a large team of both experienced professionals and team leaders in Chemical and Materials Engineering. Implements policies for engineering and technical work, serves as the principal spokesperson, collects business intelligence data, and monitors sub-contractors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads a large team chemical and materials engineers and team leaders, and manages cost, schedule and technical performance of projects and programs.
Consolidates and collects business intelligence data from available industry reports, public information, field reports, or purchased sources and applies the information to develop material and processing specifications, fabrication, and to design or modify assembly processes.
Develops or implements policies, standards, or procedures for engineering and technical work to enhance the organizations performance.
Serves as the principal spokesperson for the business unit for the specific program or product line to promote the organizations product or program.
Monitors the sub-contractors to ensure that the sub-contractors are performing to the project timeline and the quality expectations for the project.
Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
- Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelors degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience

- Experience working with polymers
- ERP experience (SAP is preferred)
