Summary

The North Florida Director of Ecological Services is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing consulting in the areas of wetlands delineation and mapping, regulatory compliance, protected plant and animal species, cultural resource management, and other ecological related services. This is a servant leadership position. The candidate will be a resource to branch offices with the branch ecological staff reporting to branch leaders.

Reporting

The North Florida Director of Ecological Services position reports directly to the President of the North Florida region.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This is not a remote position. This role will be based on the selected job posting location.

Essential Duties and Responsibiities:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans in North Florida for ecological services in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee ecological programs and projects, ensuring effective implementation and achievement of objectives and profitability to UES.
    • Stay informed about environmental regulations and ensure the organization complies with relevant laws and standards.
    • Familiarity with wetlands delineation and mapping, wetlands permitting protocols, endangered plant and animal species regulations, as they relate to construction, and Phase I environmental site assessment requirements.
    • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and other stakeholders involved in ecological services.
    • Ability to analyze complex ecological issues specific to the region and develop practical solutions.
    • Support North Florida branches in the development and implementation of ecological services in their respective areas.
    • Assist with interviewing and selecting potential ecological service line candidates, alongside branch leadership
    • Provide support to leaders in the state of Florida when it comes to ecological efforts.
    • Prepare reports on the progress and outcomes of ecological services for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and track people and processes to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with the desired outcomes.
    • Client development, proposal preparation, and strategic pricing support.
    • Provide division President with periodic updates.
    • Employee, mentoring, training, and development.
    • Periodic travel is to be expected.
    • Follows safety procedures.

Required Qualifications:
    • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
    • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
    • College degree in agriculture, civil or environmental management/engineering; geology, biology, forestry, geography, soil science, natural resource management or a related field
    • Working knowledge of laws and regulations relating to the federal Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, as well as air quality regulations
    • 6-10 years of experience in the Ecological and/or Environmental field
    • Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients
    • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:
    • M.S. in a field of Natural Resources or similar
    • Experience in an A/E/C company
    • Experience with Deltek Vision
    • Experience with SAP Concur
