Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Project Manager, preferably in the field of strategic communications and marketing, to support innovative IT-related communications strategies and services. In this position, you will have overall responsibility for the management of a large-scale project, with experience in managing budgets. Tasks may include planning and executing small- and large-scale communications campaigns, coordinating speaking engagements, and supporting media relations activities in the healthcare and/or technology space.

The ideal candidate will have a breadth of experience and expertise in the full range of communication functions, including strategy, visuals/graphic design, branding, text-based communication products and messaging, employee communication, and web-based communication channels. Additional experience in developing and implementing strategic and tactical components of a large-scale communication program for federal agencies, and in integrating multiple communication vehicles/channels/products into a comprehensive and consistent strategy is preferred.

This senior-level, full-time position is in Washington, DC, with potential for remote work with client approval.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership in all aspects of planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of multiple projects and anticipate the needs as driven by project work plans.
  • Support project staff providing administrative support to on-board/off-board staff as required.
  • Oversee and track contract financials on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversight of a large team, including subcontractors.
  • Manage marketing, communications and creative deliverables.
  • Execute innovative best practices, processes, standards, and procedures that focus on new and emerging healthcare solutions and technologies.
  • Responsible for effectively executing the intent of project and agency objectives through understanding project needs and tailoring work to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for demonstrating exemplary strategic communication and problem-solving skills with business owners, peers, management, and contract staff. Assist in making operational and staffing decisions.
  • Responsible for adhering to all contractual timelines and overseeing that all contract tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Employ creative thinking to formulate goals and objectives and integrate them into a cohesive project implementation approach to satisfy customer mission requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of management and communications experience with a BS/BA degree in public relations, marketing, communications or a related field.
  • Experience in leading a complex communication organization with strategic marketing and public relations components.
  • Consulting experience supporting large, complex Cabinet-level federal agencies and working with C suite executives.
  • Skills and experience in project management, strategic communications, marketing, and engagement support services.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong multitasker, preferably related to communications and technology initiatives.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools, including Teams and Zoom.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience supporting the federal government in innovative technology efforts preferred.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • A capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
