What you'll do:
- Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations including accounting, financial reporting, A/R, A/P, budgeting, and forecasting. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and performance reports.
- Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting operations such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Implement and oversee automated systems for transaction processing.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage comprehensive budgets, conduct financial analysis and forecasts to support business planning. Ensure financial plans align with organizational goals.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and shareholders. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory filings, including tax planning and compliance.
- Internal Controls and Policies: Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the firm's cash flow. Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment. Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
- Risk Management: Implement comprehensive risk management policies to mitigate financial risks.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and develop an accounting team capable of carrying out needed accounting and finance initiatives. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
- Strategic Planning Support: Provide strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and new business opportunities. Collaborate with the leadership team to define and execute strategic business plans.
- Stakeholder Relations: Maintain key external relationships with banks, accountant and third-party vendors. Engage with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Technology and Process Improvements: Evaluate, upgrade, and implement new accounting technology and systems to improve productivity and efficiency within the department. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
What you need:
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage a team and deliver results.
