Job Summary:

We are excited to announce the opportunity for an HR Generalist as part of our organization's expansion!

Reporting into the Director, Employee & Labor Relations, the HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in executing a wide range of HR functions at a professional level. This role's responsibilities span various domains, including benefits and leave administration, employee and labor relations, and policy development. The HR Generalist is integral to fostering a positive work environment and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance employee relations, satisfaction, and career growth across the entire organization.

This role is a key part of our collaborative, ambitious, and highly professional HR Team. We are dedicated to driving innovation, improving efficiency, and implementing people solutions for both union and non-union staff, ensuring we remain an employer of choice.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports strategic initiatives and operational goals that promote positive employee relations, employee satisfaction, retention, and career growth.
  • Assists in contract negotiations by conducting research, compiling data, and may participate in labor negotiations;
  • Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with shop stewards, union officials, and union staff, ensuring adherence to labor contract terms;
  • Engages in all employee relations issues related to complaints, harassment allegations, and union grievances, including any external regulatory agencies;
  • Schedules meetings between management, union representatives, and staff; participates in investigation and grievance proceedings; and documents all related activities;
  • Drafts, reviews, edits, and finalizes performance memos, performance improvement plans (PIPs), grievance outcome summaries, and other related employee and labor relations documents;
  • Conducts exit interviews, collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations to management;
  • Assists employees with leave of absence requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant laws;
  • Provides guidance to employees regarding leave of absence policies and procedures
  • Responds to benefits-related questions from employees, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of issues; and
  • Performs any other relevant assignments as directed.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field, Labor Relations a plus;
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification a plus;
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources as a generalist with experience in employee relations and leave management;
  • Knowledge of employment law and other compliance regulations; union experience a plus;
  • Exceptional analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate data, identify patterns, and develop actionable insights
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record of successfully coaching staff at all levels.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to prioritize competing priorities; and
  • Exhibits an exceptional work ethic, driving continuous improvement and excellence in all tasks
