Since 1949 Smith Ready Mix, Inc. has been a leading producer of ready mix concrete in Northern Indiana and is dedicated to the highest quality and service in the industry. We have an immediate opening for Quality Control Manager in Northern Indiana.

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Manager designs, plans, and implements quality control programs designed to ensure products meet and/or exceed the required quality and technical standards within the region. The Quality Control Manager oversees a team to provide expert technical support to all area plants, job sites, and customers. The ideal candidate has a diverse background covering cement, ready mix concrete, aggregate, and admixtures. This background will enable the Quality Control Manager to work with the different business units to meet the objectives of the organization. The Quality Control Manager reports to the President of the Company.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field; Minimum ten years' experience in ready mix concrete and aggregate QA/QC management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications ACI, NRMCA Concrete Technologist Level 2-4, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of organizations.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with M.S. Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) in addition to industry specific QC software (Quadrel, Command QC, Stonemont, etc.).
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of products and processes and perform technical and complex testing and analysis.


Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Must work independently and be highly organized.
  • Normal office/laboratory environment; however, time will be spent in the manufacturing facilities and the field at customer job sites. Extended hours of standing and walking required.
  • Noise levels are typical of a manufacturing/mining environment.
  • Must be able to spend long hours on the computer entering data, which requires attention to detail and high accuracy levels.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required regularly, including hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, safety-toed boots, protective clothing, gloves, and other PPE as necessary.
  • Required to support urgent matters as necessary outside of regular operating hours and available 24/7.
  • Travel to remote facilities and/or plants is required.
