The OneDrive and SharePoint (ODSP) teamislooking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to be a part of this journey.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for an Principal Software Engineering Manager who ispassionate about building a greatteam and who puts people and culture at the forefront, someone who isnot afraid to dig into hard engineering problems to improve the core fundamentals of our systems, add critical and exciting new features, revolutionize how our engineers work day-to-day, and try new things like bringing the power of machine learning and statistical analysis at scale to solve these and other problems. You will have an opportunity to work with peers across the company in Office, Azure and Microsoft365. You will guide a team of engineers, mentoring them through this journey and providing technical and architectural leadership as we evolve our scalable, distributed service.
This specific position will manage a team of engineers working on the ODSP content store, which provides the structured/unstructured metadata platform for ODSP. The content store is at the heart of the file management capabilities of both OneDrive and SharePoint, as well as the list and list item capabilities of SharePoint and the Lists service. You will need to be committed to delivering the highest levels of backwards compatibility that sophisticated enterprise customers depend on while thoughtfully evolving a complex mature platform to satisfy an ever-growing set of requirements. This layer is key to many workloads built on OneDrive and SharePoint and will require deep coordination with peer teams both within the ODSP organization and other teams across Microsoft. The leader in this space will work with key engineers to define architectural direction for multiple services and create/execute multi-stage plans to get there.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years people management experience.
- 8+ years of professional software design and development experience with at least one of C/C++/C#/Java
- Prior experience withengineeringlarge high-volume services, with service-oriented development andcloud-basedsystems
- Familiar with secure software design concepts
- Demonstrated commitment to the success of others, as a leader in the team you will be expected to mentor and directly manage software engineers.
- Technical abilities, problem solving, design, rapid prototyping, coding, and debugging skills
- Good communication skills and a track record of cross-group/cross-discipline collaboration
- Quick learner who thrives in an ambiguous environment
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Collaboration skills and ability to be adaptable and agile in development
- Prior experience specifically as an engineering manager with responsibility for the whole engineering lifecycle for a major cloud service preferred
- Experience and passion in analyzing complex unfamiliar software across a wide range of levels of detail
- Experience with building storage systems with industry leading availability, reliability, durability and performance on moderately reliable hardware and software stack
- Experience in C++ and SQL (in addition to C#) is a plus
- Experience working with geo distributed teams to achieve joint outcomes is a plus.
