Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson's Landing, and Squamish River watershed. As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 14 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Squamish people have access to necessary programs and services.
About The Opportunity
Working as an integral part of the Employment and Future Skills Department, reporting directly to the Director, Employment and Future Skills, this management position is responsible for a 10+/- person team, and is accountable for the delivery of variety of services and programs that support adult education, training, and employment opportunities. The incumbent will be responsible for managing staff, annual strategic plans, stakeholder relations, fiscal management of division budgets, innovative design of adult learning programs, teaching schedules, implementing management and teacher/counsellor/employee evaluations. Manages Training & Trades Centre (TTC) programs associated with Federal and Provincial funding contracts and guidelines, seeks opportunities for other funding sources and writes funding proposals to expand and develop current and future programs and services. Works effectively with the MST ISETS and the Squamish Nation Trades & Training Society (SNTTCS). Responsible for adhering to guidelines, policies and requirements of funding agencies. Liaises and fosters productive and cooperative working relationships with relevant stakeholders including business leaders, federal, provincial, regional, First Nations' contacts, business stakeholders and other organizations to help achieve division goals and objectives. Ensures prudent handling of budgets and delivery of fair and equitable employment, education, and training opportunities to all clients. Works with Management Team to determine strategies to move the department forward, set goals, create and implement action plans and evaluate the process and results. The incumbent operates at a high level of analytical, information processing and human interaction while managing modern and innovative service offerings to vulnerable client groups.
