Job Summary

The Merchandising Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the merchandising function for Shades of Light. This includes, but is not limited to, all catalog and website merchandising functions. The Merchandising Manager will be expected to stay abreast of trends relating to the overall retail market, home dcor industry, and print and digital consumer behaviors. This position will also lead annual promotional campaigns using a deep understanding of Shades of Light products and categories.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Category management and product visualization for both catalog and website
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including marketing, inventory management, purchasing, production, and distribution
  • Establish merchandising strategy for catalog, ecommerce, and retail sales
  • Make data driven category and product recommendations to leadership
  • Analyze market trends to effectively assess future trends and customer expectations
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative to produce seasonal promotional campaigns (Customer Favorites Sale, Cyber Sale, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal departments and Creative to oversee all catalog production cycles
  • Analyze campaign results, conversation rates, and competitor data to make product mix and category recommendations
  • Leadership and management of the merchandising team and function
  • Administrative oversight of retail store operations

Qualifications:
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Successful communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Both creative and analytical capabilities, with an eye for design and an eye for analysis
  • Accomplished analyst with a proven track record of successful analysis of complex data generating increased sales
  • Able to identify innovative solutions and create strategic solutions to complex business problems.
  • Effectively participate in cross-functional teams to drive results
  • Strategic planning of the merchandising calendar with the agility to navigate customer trends and adjust accordingly
  • Accomplished leader with a history of working in a self - directed and independent manner

Experience:
  • BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Merchandising or a related field or equivalent experience
  • MBA/Masters preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience leading the merchandising function in a retail environment
  • Seasoned expert in MS Office, specifically using MS Excel for analytical purposes
  • Experience using project management software is a plus
