The registered nurse facilitates unit operations and patient flow under the supervision of the Manager of Cardiology. The registered nurse will provide independent expert care to patient and serve as a professional role model to other staff. Assume leadership responsibilities, demonstrates knowledge of all cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures and techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Anticipate, plan, direct and evaluate the care of the patients provided by Cardiac Catheterization Staff and ancillary personnel.
- Direct the flow of patients.
- Monitor the planning, delivery and outcomes of care for area patient population
- Collaborate with other health team members to provide coordinated, safe and compassionate care for patients.
- Function as an expert clinical practitioner and role model for staff according to unit needs.
- Works closely with physicians and staff to provide the best possible patient outcomes.
- Support the cardiac catheterization manager and medical director by performing administrative activities for the unit as needed.
- Input for staff evaluations.
- Maintains financial integrity of department with budget control regarding supplies, equipment and payroll.
- Actively participates in patient and staff education.
- Prepares monthly reports indicating progress and/or opportunity for improvement.
- Works collaboratively to ensure positive clinical and financial patient outcomes.
- Participates in activities leading to quality outcomes. Prepares quarterly reports indicating progress and/or opportunity for improvement
- Develops and provides 24-hour service for both scheduled and emergency procedures.
- Maintain own personal professional growth and development.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
- Three years experience in cardiac catheterization laboratory preferred.
- Experience in Intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation preferred.
- Current RN License in the State of Illinois required.
- Current certification in CPR required
- ACLS certification required.
