Description:
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Business Manager for the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) in the College of Medicine (COM). The Business Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the administration of business, human resources, financial matters, and extramural/intramural grants, with a focus on enhancing operational effectiveness and ensuring financial health.
Duties & Responsibilities:As a member of the CMRR's leadership team, develop comprehensive business plans that promote efficient operations and financial sustainability. Prepare reports and queries to fulfill review, reporting, and disclosure requirements of the COM, UIC, State of Illinois, and federal government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and other research funding agencies. Provide leadership in financial administration and activities, such as calculating service rates for MR imaging, managing contracts with service providers, performing cost analysis and projections, and completing annual financial report. Implement and uphold best accounting practices to comply with institutional and governmental regulations. Monitor financial transactions, utilize available university resources, and adhere to relevant policies. Support the development of projections, such as capital improvements and debt service. Review reports, resolve errors in the reports, and actively contribute to special projects within the CMRR, such as equipment inventories and space tours to showcase the CMRR's facilities. Manage HR matters including electronic filing, transaction processing, onboarding, separations, visa coordination, reappointment, and time and attendance management. Proactively develop and implement internal policies to ensure compliance with regulations and enhance operational efficiency within the CMRR. Act as a technical and administrative resource; represent CMRR at various meetings and/or on committees. Coordinate with Principal Investigators to prepare accurate and detailed budgets for sponsored projects. Provide guidance and support to investigators by generating Banner reports and data queries, and by processing and reviewing financial transactions. Assist in general administration tasks as needed, including but not limited to coordinating meetings, managing correspondence, and supporting the overall functioning of the CMRR. Undertake additional responsibilities, as assigned by the Director of the CMRR, to support the goals and objectives of the CMRR.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
1. A. Bachelor's degree in accountancy, business administration, management, or a closely related field.
OR
B. Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in accounting, business administration, fiscal management, or closely related experience.
OR
C. A combination of such education and/or work experience totaling three (3) years (36 months), as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
