JOB SUMMARY
The Deputy Chief of Leadership Development reports directly to the Chief Leadership Development Officer and is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing teams that lead comprehensive leadership development programs that align with district priorities. This role is pivotal in shaping the district's culture, building leadership capacity, promoting talent development, and driving long-term success. Responsibilities include establishing clear systems for training and development, ensuring alignment between district core values and leadership expectations, and overseeing office operations such as budgeting, procurement, human resources, and communications. This ensures that robust systems and structures support the leadership development initiatives across the organization.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Guide the development and execution of a strategic vision for leadership and professional development programs, ensuring alignment with the District's goals and objectives.
2. Oversee the creation and implementation of leadership development frameworks, tools, and resources to build a robust pipeline of talented leaders at all levels.
3. Supervise the design and delivery of leadership training programs, workshops, and initiatives tailored to address the specific needs of various employee groups.

4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify leadership competencies and behaviors necessary for success within the organization.
5. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development by promoting engagement in professional growth opportunities.
6. Direct the establishment of metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness and impact of leadership and professional development initiatives.
7. Provide coaching and mentoring to senior leaders and high-potential employees to accelerate their development and career progression.
8. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in leadership development to ensure the District remains at the forefront of innovation.
9. Oversee the development and management of the budget for leadership and professional development initiatives.

EDUCATION
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Master's degree in education leadership, or related field preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE
Engaged in non-standardized and varied tasks that involve complex variables, requiring considerable time for planning, evaluating intricate solutions, and negotiating outcomes. Frequently utilized strong analytical skills and inductive thinking to develop innovative approaches to situations where existing solutions have proven inadequate. Experience in proposing innovative solutions to problems, enhancing existing methods, procedures, and services, and generating innovative ideas. Interacts regularly with campus leadership and executive leaders, ensuring effective communication and alignment with organizational goals.
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Expert knowledge of HISD and/or understanding of urban education and change management in complex systems.
Strong problem-solving and project management skills, including strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance the big picture with detailed steps to reach an end goal.
A commitment to equity demonstrates a sense of urgency regarding closing the achievement gap and driving equitable educational opportunities for all students.
