Position Summary:
This Bureau Chief of Local Projects position functions as a leader of the bureau's core management team, providing leadership to all employees in the bureau. This position works collaboratively with the core management team and executive staff to determine overall bureau strategic goals and work objectives. The responsibilities of this position include oversight, consultation, and assistance for all aspects of the bureau's work including developing and managing the bureau's annual operating budget.
This position is responsible for researching, developing, reviewing and approving administrative and operational policy and procedures for the bureau and KDOT funded local programs. Local, state, and national meetings are attended as necessary to obtain and convey appropriate information. Limited travel is required.

This Bureau Chief of Local Projects position requires administrative knowledge of all bureau functions including:
- Federal and state funding programs
- Contracts/agreements with LPAs, consulting engineers and contractors
- Project development
- Road design
- National Bridge Inspection Program
- Bridge Design
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven years of experience in an engineering role
- Five years of supervisory experience
- Experience with managing budgets, project delivery, and oversight of local programs with cities and counties
- Professional Engineering (PE) License recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions
- Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03.
