Position Title: Construction & Exhibitry Project Manager
Department: Construction & Exhibitry
Reports To: Construction and Exhibitry Directors
Location: All Audubon Nature Institute Properties
General Summary: The Construction & Exhibitry Project Manager's primary role is to direct and provide project management of construction projects for all Audubon Nature Institute properties. This includes but is not limited to the management and coordination of design activities internally (Construction & Exhibitry Staff, Executive Staff, the Senior Vice Presidents of Facility Operations, Facilities Staff, Husbandry Staff) and externally (Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Designers, Fabricators, Consultants) to design and fabricate construction projects, exhibits, graphics, and interpretive materials for Audubon Nature Institute facilities. This position also coordinates the review and execution of contracts in cooperation with the Purchasing Department of Design Professionals hired by Audubon Nature Institute. This position will provide expertise in managing capital funding contracts and assist in compliance of local rules and regulations.
To deliver on the Audubon mission, the Construction & Exhibitry Project Manager will:
Provide a guest experience of outstanding quality
With the support of the C&E Directors, direct and oversee projects, ensuring that all planning, architectural and engineering aspects are strictly and effectively adhered to and reported on.
With the support of the C&E Directors, direct major repairs and improvements, ensuring consistent "Audubon quality" enhancements and "campus" look and feel to existing Audubon assets.
With the support of the C&E Directors, coordinate graphics, signs, and interpretive materials with Education/Interpretive Planning Staff and Marketing Staff to ensure that they are properly planned and integrated throughout the design and construction process,
With the support of the C&E Directors, direct onsite construction firms ensuring that proper construction protocols are observed, design documents are followed, design intent is adhered to and operations coordination is effectively maintained.
Represent Audubon Nature Institute at meetings with partners and city agencies regarding assigned projects.
Conduct standing meetings with the Senior Vice President of Facility Operations and project teams during the design and construction phases of projects.
Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate internal departments to ensure that all elements of a project are completed by agreed-upon deadlines.
Monitor schedules and scope of assigned C&E projects to maintain timely completion of projects within budget.
Weave quality entertainment throughout the guest experience
Ensure that a professional work environment is maintained during all construction projects with minimum negative impact to guests, staff or animals.
Supervise outside Contractors, Consultants, Architects, Fabricators, and Designers to meet installation goals Coordinate location and plan of signs, graphics, interpretive materials, videos, computer interactive/games, and other show services.
Maintain a high standard for design and execution of projects for best guest experience and well-being of all of Audubon's living creatures.
Operate a financially self-sufficient collection of museums and parks.
Manage budget, schedule, and scope expectations of Executive Team
Effectively monitor actual expenditures to budget, providing management with timely expenditure variances
Develop project implementation phasing that minimizes negative impact on revenue generation
Minimize impact of changes throughout design and construction stages of capital projects
Prepare timely reimbursement requests for state, city and federal funded projects, ensuring accurate details and all necessary backup documentation.

Internal Supervision: Not Applicable
Experience: Minimum 3 years construction management, project management, architectural, environmental, exhibit design, or interpretive design experience at the management level
Education: Minimum Bachelor of Arts in Construction Management, Design, Architecture, Planning or related field.
Licensure/Certification: PMP or CCM preferred.
Software Requirements: Working knowledge of basic computer software programs, i.e., Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook, preferred proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, and familiarity with AutoCAD or other computer assisted design software.
Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computer, land phone and copy machine. Must have ability to learn and use different signage production tools. Must have the ability to learn to use multiple types of tools for fabrication and installation if needed. Such tools include drills, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work: exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. May involve sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.
Ability to express and exchange ideas with effective communication.
Ability to read, record, or type data accurately and comprehensively.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Working long hours between breaks or meals is required.
Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
Constant contact with co-workers required.
Affinity for animals preferred.
Exposure to fluctuations in temperatures may be required.
