The Prototypes and Flight Experiments Branch, RVEP, seeks to hire a mid-level, DR-II Program Manager in Albuquerque, NM. The incumbent will advise the Chief, Prototypes and Flight Experiments branch, on management of space technology programs and flight experiments.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the management of space technology and flight experiment programs for the Integrated Experiments and Evaluations Division of the Space Vehicles Directorate. Work will include: general scientific, technical, systems engineering, operations, and program advocacy support associated with integrated flight experiments. Key focus areas include systems engineering, technical requirements analysis, technical requirements definition, modeling and simulation, component/material procurement, spacecraft design, assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T), launch vehicle integration, spacecraft/experiment operations, data acquisition, post-experiment analysis, technical reporting, technology transition, and/or decommissioning. It may include advising branch and division leadership on contract modifications, ceiling increases, and task order development, and other contract decisions.
- Providing program management and oversight of the cost, schedules, and performance of flight experiments/programs. Leading and working closely with program technical staff to ensure they successfully reach their technical baselines within the constraints of their budgets and schedules. Managing program risks and opportunities by developing risk mitigation and opportunity capture plans. Planning, executing, and controlling acquisition programs through all phases of the acquisition life cycle.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- This is a Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- This position may require travel.
- These are Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) positions, and require a Level 2 certificate (Practitioner). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or waiver must be obtained.
- A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
- A bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of
materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience within USAF/USSF acquisitions program management.
- Experience working with or within the Department of Defense research community
- Experience with developing and maintaining close relationships with academia and other government agencies for basic research
