Summary of Job
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) to work in Organized Retail & House Theft Taskforce under the Economic Crimes Division. The ADA will be responsible for conducting complex investigations involving organized and prolific retail theft offenders, as well as multi-property deed fraud schemes. The Assistant District Attorney will work closely with the DAO's Prosecution Detectives and local, state and federal law enforcement to identify offenders and assist in the preparation and review of evidence through search warrants and subpoenas.

Job Responsibilities
  • Managing criminal investigations from arrest to conclusion.
  • Conducting Grand Jury hearings, proffers, protracted preliminary hearings, trials, sentencings and VOPs.
  • Litigating any relevant motions and managing discover.
  • Assisting other trial Assistant District Attorneys throughout the office with retail and deed theft cases.
  • Conducting and attending trainings and community events/meetings as needed.
  • Provide assistance and counsel to DA Detectives and PPD throughout the investigative process.


Skills & Qualifications
  • All candidates must be admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • 2+ years of criminal justice or other relevant experience required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service and a strong academic record.
  • Ideal candidates will also possess a capacity for fairness and empathy, a strong work ethic, an ability to manage a demanding work load, and sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work directly with Detectives and other ADAs to investigate cases is required.
  • Candidates must be organized, flexible and capable of working under pressure.
  • Ability to develop and cultivate effective internal/external working relationships is essential.
  • Candidates must have an understanding of the uniquely sensitive and confidential nature of the professional services provided by the Office.
